Hello Lovelies, how was your weekend, hope you relaxed, had fun and re-energized for the new week? My weekend was cool, delivered bedsheets and duvets ordered, got quotations for ordered furniture and generally rested. I would like to hear how you spent yours.
As an interior decorator, I often meet people who are confused on what to use for the windows either in the living rooms, bedrooms and kitchens. The reoccurring options are usually between CURTAINS or BLINDS.
We are going to discuss both today in terms of Light, Sound, Beauty,Privacy, Installation and Cleaning.
Light
This involves light control, how much light do you want? not too dark? not too bright? Blinds give a bit more control over light than curtains. With blinds, you can control how much light you want in the space without interfering with privacy.
Sound
This involves noise control, we know noise filtering into the room cannot be totally eliminated, but the choice of window treatments used can reduce it. Blinds take the day here again as it reduces noise better than curtains.
Beauty
In terms of beauty, I would give it to curtains, there are so much more options to choose from, different designs to make and your also not limited in colour combinations.
Privacy
Hmmmm... curtains give you privacy but that is if they are thick (drapes) and blinds too give privacy, in terms of which is more private would depend on choice of the individual and how it is used.
Installation
Curtains can be easily installed, buy the rods, buy nails, get hammer and install away. Blinds on other hand requires professionals to help install it. Curtains take this one.
Cleaning
As per Naija and dust things, blinds would require frequent cleaning (wiping), most probably weekly. Curtains on other hand can be washed as the spirit leads.
Our next post, we would talk about the different types of blinds and where in the homes they would be appropriate.
Thanks for reading and don't forget to share on your facebook and twitter pages. Have lovely week ahead.
