Building and remodeling comes with a lot of pressure for perfection. Changing floor plans at every given opportunity just to make sure its perfect. With all these pressure for efficiency and beauty, some lose sight of the basic things to put in place when designing a bathroom.
Avoid these common mistakes to help you enjoy the bathroom in the long run.
Avoid a clear View
I have come across a bathroom that opens directly into the dining room. Someone sitting in the dining room would see whoever is going in or coming out of the bathroom. This should be avoided at all costs. The bathroom doesn't have to be secluded from the rest of the house, but it should'nt have a clear view either.
Use Direct Sunlight
Dark and stuffy bathrooms is not what you want to end up with. One of the walls of the bathroom has to be an outer wall with a window bringing in direct sunlight. In a case where direct sunlight is impossible from a window a skylight should be used.
Having a Bathtub or Shower Stall
A curbless shower with either a shower curtain or glass doors is much more efficient and also as beautiful as having a shower stall or a bathtub cramped into a little room. Lose the bathtub. This helps to economize space, which gives room to accommodate other accessories.
Thinking Bigger is Better
So many Nigerians are guilty of this, Bigger isn't better, better is better. Whether designing a general bathroom or a bathroom for the master bedroom what makes a bathroom stand out and is appreciated is the design of the bathroom and not the size.
