Tips on choosing the Right Decorative Pillows ( Throw Pillows)

Hello Lovelies, today we are going to be discussing throw pillows.
Throw pillows are an asset in any space it is used. It brings out the beauty of the space and an advantage of it is that it can easily be changed and combined to give the space a different look.

Choosing the right throw pillows, be it in material texture, color or size is very important so as not to throw the decor off balance.

Here are some things to consider and apply when choosing decorative pillows.



Consider Size of Sofa

You do not want the throw pillows to look too small on the sofa, neither do you want it to take up all the space. If you have a big sofa, make a size-able decorative pillow and vice versa.
Also the size of the sofa would determine how many pieces of throw pillows should be used. When you have to remove some pillows before sitting, then its too much.
Ideally, a normal sized 3 seater sofa should have between 3-4 throw pillows.

Color

There are different ways in choosing colors for your throw pillows.
i. Use neutral colors - You can play it safe by using neutral colors like grey, black, brown, cream or white. White isnt advised if you have children or if the sofa is going to be used in a high traffic area, for example a big family or an office.

ii. Mix and Match - Use colors from accessories around. For example the color of the flower vase, curtains, art work etc

iii. Use plain and patterned - Use a plain color and combine it with the pattern of same or another color. Also you can combine two different patterns and colors. Example below.

iv. Import - By import I mean Import. lolz. Let me explain. Let the throw pillows have their own unique colors. The color cannot be found anywhere else in the space. Just bring in a different color altogether. Be careful with this last one though, because you have to apply the color wheel when importing colors.

Texture

The texture of the material is also very important. Choose materials that can easily washed if you are using the throw pillows in a high traffic space or in a space with children. Consider materials that do not irritate the skin also.
